Partnerships

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that the essence of innovation and growth lies in working together. As a community, Calgary UX creates meaningful relationships within and outside our tech ecosystem.

Our commitment

Collaboration is the cornerstone of progress and innovation. Calgary UX observes the following goals while partnering with organizations, communities and individuals. We value:

Diverse Perspectives

Collaboration brings together individuals with different backgrounds, skills, and experiences. This diversity of thought is a breeding ground for creativity and innovation.

Learning and Growth

Collaborating with others exposes us to new ideas and ways of thinking. It’s an excellent opportunity for continuous learning and personal growth.

Problem Solving

Complex problems often require multiple perspectives. Collaborative efforts can lead to better solutions and strategies.

Efficiency and Productivity

Working together allows us to pool resources, share the workload, and get things done more efficiently. It helps us accomplish more in less time.

Networking

Building relationships through collaboration is an excellent way to expand your professional network, which can be invaluable for career development.

The community subscribes to the Rainforest social contract, it is a guiding principle, it is not necessarily required for volunteering.

How

Collaboration model

We create environments where individuals and communities can work together effectively, share knowledge, and achieve common goals.

This is our process, step by step

  • Create safe spaces
  • Frame the conversation around an important question
  • Identify assets and skills
  • Link and leverage assets to identify new opportunities
  • Define areas to work on based on current scope and capacity
  • Define the key performance indicators
  • Start with low impact and low-risk task
  • Draft a short-term action plan
  • Set a time to review, learn and adjust
  • Reinforce good habits and best practices

Land acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Calgary area where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet is a place of confluence where the sharing of ideas and opportunities naturally occurs. Indigenous peoples have their own names for this area that were in use long before Scottish settlers named it Calgary

The Métis call the Calgary area Otos-kwunee. In the Blackfoot language, they call this place, Moh-kins-tsis. The Stoney Nakoda Nation refer to the Calgary area as Wîchîspa Oyade and the people of the Tsuut’ina nation call this area Guts-ists-i. We would like to acknowledge that we are located on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 Region in Southern Alberta.

This includes the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai, collectively known as the Blackfoot Confederacy; the Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations, comprised of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The City of Calgary is also the homeland of the historic Northwest Métis and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. We acknowledge all Indigenous urban Calgarians, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis who have made Calgary their home.
